R.K.K. Nevsky

The R.K.K. Nevsky was created for one purpose – for the Russian government to donate this ship to the Mars colony. As a result, the Russian government insisted upon selecting the United Forces Officers who are ferrying colonists. Therefore Russia’s interests are heavily fortified by the crew. The colonists, however, (to reduce weight) are manning some posts. These colonists, hand-picked by Sanka Doug, have to ensure the community’s best interests are what is represented and not one country’s goals.

The Crew

These are the brave men and women assigned to man stations on the ships, ferrying the equally brave men, women and children, who shall colonize Mars to their destination. Some are there for a round-trip to Mars, then right back to Earth. Still others are not just officers, but colonists, themselves.

Doctor

Doctor Yuri Milenkovich Stravinskiy

He’s the apparently lackadaisical Russian surgeon, originally from Siberia, who is actually on the ball, when he actually starts to get involved in the patient’s life. He’s the kind who enjoys life and prefers to focus on the positive, rather than negative. But when he’s in doctor mode, he is serious – and seriously dedicated to finding the cure, not making a profit.

Chef

Yelizaveta Anatolyevna Roskovich

She is the chef for the Nevksy and the woman who is unrepentant at their unlawful adoption of the three orphans. General Doug allowed them to go because Chelsea Heartford informed him of the situation. Sanka Doug recognized that the steadfast determination this family had to stay together was just what was needed to make Mars a home. The three bonded like a family at the orphanage and Mikhail and Yelizaveta both made numerous attempts to adopt them through channels. Finally, when it came to the point where the eldest was going to be sent out to the streets, where prostitution would be her only option, the two sold everything to bribe-force the adoption and flee to Mars, in case Global Child Services took note of the illegality of it. She is no-nonsense and a force to be reckoned with, with a kind heart.

Mikhail Piotrevich Roskovich

He is the kind of man who’s patient and easy to work with. The kind of man who’d make a good father – if he and his wife had had children. Before they got around to that, he and his wife met and emotionally adopted three Ukrainian children. As time became the enemy, so as to spare them from the streets when they got old enough to exit the system, he and his wife orchestrated a somewhat crooked escape for this family – to Mars. He’s laid back and easy going, the kind of man who does what has to be done, because it has to be done.

The Passengers

These are the colonists who have much to offer on Mars, but have little to offer when it comes to running a spaceship, aside from an ability to adapt rapidly and learn.

Colonist

Architect

Dmitri Sergeievich Ivanov

Dmitri is the colony’s Chief Architect – originally that meant just that he designed the towering complex chosen to inhabit these colonists, now it means in all matters of building, Dmitri has to give the ‘all clear’. He’s a man who hates Americans, due to NASA’s theft of his designs, and is a perfectionist. He’s just a touch comedic, but takes his job and himself seriously. The kind to rush everything, move at top speed, except on his actual work. There he takes his time to get it right.

The School Children

These are the children of colonists, several of whom are indeed the reason their parents got to go to Mars. They have the innocent vision necessary to see life the way it is and are the motivation needed to keep the adults dedicated to the colony’s survival.

Colonist

Student

Anastasia Victorovna Roskovich

Anastasia is the oldest Roskovich and the girl most endangered by being an orphan in the Ukraine, one of the main reasons Sanka Doug authorized this ‘family’ to go to Mars. Aware of her pending need, she started preparing herself mentally for prostitution, which is what prompted her adoptive parents to take extreme measures. She’s smart and strong-willed.

Colonist

Vladimir Igorevich Roskovich

Vladimir is the middle boy in the Roskovich ‘family’ and enjoys working with his hands. In the orphanage he used his hands for fighting. But in a new world, he has a new chance to put his hands to better use. He’s a leader in his own right and is willing to make hard decisions.

Sergei Alexandrovich Roskovich

The youngest Roskovich boy, he’s the most optimistic, having spent the shortest time in the orphanage. Strongly attached to Vladimir and Anastasia, Sergei is the one who always views life as an adventure and thinks the end is always worth the means.
